The natural sore
throat remedy
that actually works.
It isn't new. It isn't expensive. It doesn't come in a brightly-colored bottle. It's a warm glass of salt water, and — if you want to do it well — a spoonful of raw honey.
How sore throat remedies compare
| Remedy | Evidence | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Salt water gargle | Most evidence | Daily-safe, cheap, well studied. |
| Wildflower honey | Well studied | Coats the throat, pleasant flavor. |
| Hot tea + honey + lemon | Good | Hydration plus honey, in a mug. |
| Throat lozenges (menthol) | Short-term | Numbs sensation temporarily. |
| Chloraseptic spray | Short-term | Numbs pain; doesn't address the cause. |
| Alcohol mouthwash | Not recommended daily | Dries out tissue with regular use. |
